After a week of working here and not seeing much besides the inside of the hotel, the inside of the ExCel Center and the inside of an incredibly delicious and per diem-friendly Turkish restaurant in East London (where we ate almost every night)…it was definitely time for some fun. And, a move to much more scenic Central London.
Last weekend, our friend from Baltimore, Stephanie Green, was wrapping up her amazing six-week adventure in Italy and Malta. It was great to see her in London before she flew home. A little shopping and some fish and chips in Chiswick were a great way to close out her travels and kick-off ours.
On Friday night, we met up with another Baltimore friend, Cathy McEwing, who lives in London. We had drinks at the famous “George Inn” followed by a nighttime tour that included the Millennium Bridge, St. Patrick’s and Big Ben.
Saturday, Dec 5, was very British, indeed. High tea with the RTP gang at The Kensington Hotel followed by Jane Eyre at The National Theatre. Incredible day (thank you, Melissa Doyle for organizing) and we finally get to tell John Molanphy about a show that he hasn’t seen yet (not easy to do). Jane Eyre will definitely come to NYC soon – do not miss it.
Next stop (for fun)…Gloucester! We’ll be back with our next “Dear Burglar” update toward the end of the week.
