Sayōnara, Japan

It’s official, we love, love, love Japan.  During our last 24 hours, we fit in as much touring, shopping, and eating as we could.  Here are the highlights:

Ginkakuji (The Silver Pavilion) is a beautiful temple that is not actually covered in silver, but it’s said that the building used to be covered in black lacquer and that at night, when the moon was bright, it gave the building a silvery appearance.

This is also where the Philosopher’s Path begins.  The path follows a canal that is lined with hundreds of cherry trees which were past their peak, but the weather was fantastic and the company even better.

Jennie and Annie split off at the end of the trail and did some shopping while Chris and Michael checked more temples off the list including Kiyomizu-dera.  Visitors come to this temple, specifically, to show their gratitude for coming into this world. We all agree that we are very grateful for our time together and our incredible experience in Japan.

Chris and Jennie are continuing their travels in Japan for a few more days. Annie and Michael are now making their way to the third stop on this crazy trip – The Maldives.  Dear Burglar will be back at the end of that adventure (in about a week) with an update.

Thank you, Japan!
