Well Hello, Bali…You're Looking Swell, Bali…
(Apologies to Carol Channing) We are here in Bali for the last few days of our amazing adventure. And, it’s perfect that we’ll be here for Thanksgiving because we are very, very thankful for this experience. We’ll be back in the US on Friday. So, what have we been up to?
A lot of this. Snoozing and reading the Game of Thrones series on various devices.
We’ve stayed in two different parts of the island. The first – Maya Ubud Resort & Spa – was in the middle of the jungle. It was wildly beautiful and so peaceful. We saw lots of frogs, lizards and even a couple of snakes.
This guy is just lucky he’s not living in Vietnam or he would have ended up on somebody’s plate.
We took a half-day cooking class that was really fun. Hope you all are ready for some Balinese food at “Restaurant MMM.”
We also did tour around the island for one day where we saw a traditional Barong and Kris Dance with live Gamelon music.
And, we learned how Batik is made. After this trip, we’ll never look at rice or fabric in the same way. So much work goes into farming/making both.
After a few days in the jungle, we moved down to Nusa Dua where we’ve had a little beach time and where we got to see this real life sea monster. RUN SCOOBY! Ok, maybe not so scary.
We have today and tomorrow left to go. It’s torrentially raining right now, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed for some more sun before we fly back home. Rain or shine, we’re grateful for this time in paradise.
