Best of SE Asia
We’ve covered a lot of ground during these past three weeks – Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Mai), Vietnam (Hanoi, Halong Bay, Ho Chi Minh/Saigon), Cambodia (Siem Reap) and back to Thailand (Koh Samui). Here’s a quick look at just some of what we’ve learned:
Buddha is big here.
There is graffiti art, but it’s old school.
Monks play a really important role. They educate, guide and provide a sense of order. It was interesting – we didn’t see any “teenage shenanigans” because most of the young men in these countries are either working in the rice fields or are in monk training. (Evan, this would be perfect for you! Ha, ha)
Everyone works very hard in SE Asia.
Especially the photographers. Seriously, it was one photo shoot after another.
Orchids are the most beautiful flowers in the world.
It’s important to take time to smell them at every opportunity,
Intoxicants are not allowed at the temple.
But, they are allowed inside of coconuts.
Junk food in SE Asia is weird and awesome.
And, even pagodas can be worn as hats!
At this time, we sadly have to say good-bye to Jackie as she gets ready to fly back home. We had an amazing time traveling together and are grateful that she could join Team SE Asia. It made our adventure even more fun. Michael and Annie are now off to their final stop – Bali.
